Crashed before the start!

An eventful 'Day 0' (heading for the starting line) had a metaphorical waving off from Louise, Rob and Jeannie, followed by what seemed like a great journey to our Kernow brethren, until Penzance!
Crossing the Cornish border was met with the onset of rain and that, coupled to a maze of ridiculously narrow, and narrowing, lanes (suspiciously designed to operate like a lobster pot) saw us pretty much wedged between rocky outcrops! To be honest, I am regretting my bright idea of using the GPS to navigate to the B&B... it was working fine but as it was set up to guide a bike, it may have contributed to the problem... and we got to that place, you know the one, just past the point of no return. So imagine four folks getting drenched through open windows, facing in four separate directions (heads barely able to be out of the windows) shouts of STOP, the crunch of metal (well plastic), scratches, the loss of a door handle, the removal of some granite and ... eventually a more open road... The Lobster is Maimed but Free.
The bike is fine though, and the ride starts tomorrow.

  2. Sounds like the technology is working well.

I googled 'Tips for long distance cyclists' so can offer the following advice based on my research.

Don't wear any underwear under your cycling shorts! The seams will cause pressure and chaffing. Apparently lace knickers are the very worst thing to wear on a bicycle.

Keep your bum clean! Your sores will feel ten times worse when they become infected,

    Hope this helps,

    Mark
